Zinefest!

Prepare yourself. It’s coming. You can’t stop it.

Here’s some photos of the new poster by Tom Kaczynski (Illustration), myself (design) and Pat Callahan (printing). These bad boys will be going up around town over the course of this month. If you’re interested in having one, or know of a great place to put one up, just let me know.

Intoxicologist Dinner

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

img_08111

Last night I found the time to stand around and watch some friends of mine print up a poster for the Intoxicologist Dinner that’s going to be at the Bulldog in North East.

What you see here is a true collaboration between Pat Callahan (concept/bulldog drawing), Jonathan Schuster (design/screen printing) and myself (background pattern/cigar smoking).

Pictured above is the poster and below is the menu. Kudos to Ray Roberts for pulling the thing together.

The dinner, an evening of 6 drink and food pairings, is June 16th.

TMNT-Final.jpg

I drew a TMNT cover for the COVERED Blog. Boy, I had a lot of fun drawing this.

Some trivia:

While reading the publishing info on the inside of the original comic, it says that the Tokka character (the evil mutant turtle on the far left) was “inspired by the drawings of Stephen R. Bissette.”

Cool.

Mind-Mapping

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

It’s time for my first new mini for 2009. Mind-Mapping is very tiny at first, but unfolds to 6.5″ x 19″. I wasn’t able to get a photograph of it, but a part of this book actually glows in the dark. For $5 you can see it for yourself …

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I finally got to go and check out Hot Ink at the Minnesota Museum of American Art. It was pretty great. The huge banner is awesome.

Here’s a photo I took right before I was informed that I’m not allowed to take photos in the museum.

Madison Zinefest

Here’s a couple photos from this last weekend’s Madison Zinefest.

It was held in the Majestic Theatre in Madison.

For some reason the state capital building was green. Maybe they just really like St. Patrick’s Day.

“Vacation”

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Well, I’m back from SPX, and as promised, here are some photos:

Sarah and I spent a great deal of time waiting around in airports over the course of last week. That mostly mean lots of overpriced martinis and arcade games. It was actually pretty fun.

Wild horses couldn’t have kept us from being that close to the Lincoln Memorial without paying our respect.

IMG_0079.JPG

Big Brother and his wonderful wife, Susan, put us up for the week. On a good day I can walk and chew gum at the same time; my brother manages to fight terrorism for the government AND make a really good Manhattan.

And then SPX! It was a great show. I would definitely go again. My favorite book from the show was The Man Who Loved Breasts by Robert Goodin. Just laugh out-loud funny.

Saturday night we had dinner with the One Percent Press clan.

Then I went back to the hotel, drank a barrel of whiskey and stayed up until 2 a.m. talking comics. I’ll spare you the photos in leu of this image of a herd of alpacas.

IMG_0122.JPG

Yes, that’s right. Earlier in the week we went to an alpaca farm.

Vacations kick ass.
